Our tap classes are an optional 15 or 30 minute class which is an extension to our jazz classes. Therefore, your child must be enrolled in a jazz class to participate within a tap class. In tap, our students are taught specific tap skills and steps which are then built to create more intricate tap steps. Each tap class will perform 1 routine within our annual concert, and it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their ability.

Advanced Tap 

Ballet Classes are a modern representation of the classical skill. Our younger students are introduced to the basic components of ballet and as our students grow, their skills are further developed to suit their ability. All our ballet classes follow a similar structure of a ballet-based warm up, barre, centre and then corner work which involves locomotor movement and skills. We do not follow a curriculum; as all exercises and components are specifically designed for that particular class. These classes usually perform one item in our concert.

Our Hip Hop Classes are a modern representation that refers to street dance style primarily performed to hip hop music that has evolved as part of the hip hop culture. These classes provide each of our students with an opportunity to ignite their passion for and develop their ability to dance in an environment which is encouraging and supportive. We hold two hip hop classes - Junior and Advanced both classes follow a similar structure of a full body warm up, a range of combinations which develops your child’s technique and skill level, followed by time to learn and rehearse choreography.

These classes provide each of our students with an opportunity to ignite their passion for and develop their ability to dance in an environment which is encouraging and supportive. Each class follows a similar structure of a full body warm-up, a range of combinations which develops your child’s technique and skill level, followed by time to learn, and rehearse choreography. The genre of Jazz is ever changing and as our students grow, they can be exposed to a range of styles of Jazz such as Broadway, modern and funk. These classes usually perform 2 items in our concert.

Junior Hip Hop

A wonderful, fun jazz class designed specifically for our Adults (so anyone over the age of 30+). This class is intended to keep the passion of dance alive in our hearts, and our bodies moving safely. In our Adults Jazz class, we are a community of women who are brave and bold, we support one another and fill our hearts with joy so that we can return home to raising our family. If you’re an adult and looking for something that is just for you, then this class is the perfect opportunity to move your body and dance. This class usually does 2 items in our concert.

Our Mini Bop class is specifically tailored for our Littlest Dancers. It is 45 minutes of fun, filled with opportunities for your little person to explore dance through movement, song and more. Mini Bop introduces our little ones to a range of genres such as acrobatics, jazz, ballet, and musical theatre. It encourages the development of functional motor skills through balancing and locomotor movements. Your little dancer is sure to love this class!

Our Performance Classes are invitation only, extension classes offered to ages 11-13 (Junior Performance) and, 14 and above (Senior Performance). Within these classes, our dancer’s technique is further developed through an inclusive ballet class and extending our dancers through combinations focusing on flexibility, leaps and turn development. Our dancers are given a range of performance opportunities which strengthen their ability to shine confidently on stage in an encouraging environment. These classes usually do 2-3 extra items in the concert.

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs/singing, acting and dance. At Time for Dance our Musical Theatre classes teach our students how to use movement and song to tell a story. We focus on training and strengthening the singing voice, building confidence through performance and expression, and learning simple choreography. Our Musical Theatre class provides a fantastic opportunity for your child to develop in a supportive and fun environment. This class usually does 2 items in the annual concert which showcase a combination of singing, acting and jazz style movements.

Acrobatics is the performance of balance, agility and motor co-ordination skills combined with dance. It is very entertaining to watch as our dancers perform explosive skills within high intensity routines. Acrobatics is a physically demanding genre which takes time to strengthen your body, develop flexibility and therefore, acquire higher level skills. These classes usually do one item in our concert.
