Tap incorporates percussion by rhythmically taping one’s feet on the floor. It is a fun style which anyone can join regardless of their dance background. Tap builds great ankle strength as well as musicality and rhythm.

Technique focuses on a mixture of Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary for students looking to explore the fundamentals of dance and expand their skills.

Jazz is a fun, high-energy class that enhances strength, flexibility and endurance. Classes include a cardio warm-up, stretching and strengthening exercise, travelling combinations and conclude with the learning of an upbeat routine.

Level 2 Tiny Tots (4-5 years old) - These engaging classes are designed to assist the development of gross motor skills, coordination and musical awareness. Students will also benefit beyond dance, learning skills such as taking turns, following instructions and retaining basic choreography.

Dance with me (2-3 years old accompanied by an adult) - This class is specially designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of Ballet technique in a fun and nurturing environment.

Tiny Tots (3-5 years old) - These engaging classes are designed to assist the development of gross motor skills, coordination and musical awareness. Students will also benefit beyond dance, learning skills such as taking turns, following instructions and retaining basic choreography.

Lyrical is an emotive style of dance that draws on both ballet and jazz techniques. It can also be described as a slower, more expressive form of jazz often performed to ballad style music.

Acro or Acro Dance blends dance technique and acrobatics. The classes include stretching and strengthening exercises so students can develop a good foundation of flexibility, strength and balance to achieve acro tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, walkovers and aerials.

Tap is a vibrant dance characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes – which have metal plates on the heel and toe – striking the floor as a form of percussion.


Petite Tap

Born in the streets of New York in the 70s, Hip Hop took over dance studios of the world in the last few years. Part of a cultural movement that includes deejaying and graffiti, Hip-Hop dancing is a fusion that incorporates elements of popping, locking, breaking, ballet, jazz and tapping and is typically performed to hip-hop, R&B, funk or pop music.

This class is designed for adults with little or no ballet experience that want the fitness benefits of a ballet class without complicated exercises, turns or the impact of jumps. It will teach you the basics of ballet with simple exercises that work on your coordination, strength, balance & flexibility.

This class is designed for adults with a few years of ballet experience that want to challenge themselves. This class follows the structure of a regular ballet class beginning at the barre followed by centre work, including turns and jumps.

The class is made upon both dynamic and static safely and gently stretches. Acro or Acro Dance blends dance technique and acrobatics. The classes include stretching and strengthening exercises so students can develop a good foundation of flexibility, strength and balance to achieve acro tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, walkovers and aerials.

Angela’s passion for dancing started at a young age. Growing up she studied Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical and Jazz. Her drive and hard work led her to full-time Ballet training in which she spent two years working with some of the industry’s most sought-after teachers. Her teaching journey began by studying Primary Education at the University of Wollongong. Soon after, she decided to merge her passion for teaching with her love of dance. That’s when she went on to study for a further two years in Ballet Teaching Studies, obtaining her teaching qualification with the internationally recognised Royal Academy of Dance. After spending five years teaching and dancing in Melbourne, Angela has returned to Wollongong to open her dream studio Ava Dance Centre. Angela is committed to improving teaching methods and dance techniques set by industry standards. She highly values the importance of continual growth for both students and staff and, is actively involved in the wider dance community to ensure that students benefit from innovative practices and trends.
