Ambiance Dance offers Lyrical classes which draw from a range of techniques from Ballet and Contemporary. Lyrical dance allows students to show expression and emotion through music that is usually soft and slow. It is a style that draws upon strong classical foundations which allows choreography to be shown to a high standard. To take a lyrical class you must be doing a ballet class as it draws from classical technique.

Twinkle those toes and let’s make some noise. Tap teaches students how to move and tap with rhythm so it becomes a melody as opposed to just noise and learn how to also complement the music and match the rhythms. Common tap steps include the shuffle, time steps, slap up’s, and wing’s. Also, mums and dads, see our Adult Tap class on the timetable, you can’t let the kids have all the fun.

This fun and imaginative introduction to musical theatre helps young performers build confidence on stage while exploring the basics of acting, singing, and movement. Students learn to express themselves through storytelling, group scenes, and upbeat songs from kid-friendly musicals.

Drama & Musical Theatre – Level 1

Grade 4 Jazz is an exciting and energetic class that challenges dancers to develop greater technical skill, musicality, and style. At this level, students expand their jazz vocabulary while working on flexibility, strength, and dynamic performance quality. Dancers are encouraged to explore different jazz styles such as lyrical jazz, Broadway, and commercial.

Grade 4 Jazz

Commonly referred to as Acro, it has similar components to gymnastics and enables students to learn how to cartwheel, handstand, back flip and much more in a class that is fun, energetic and exciting. Acrobatics involves difficult feats of balance, agility and coordination enabling students to build strength, agility and flexibility which will help them in all their dance classes or other sports they wish to participate in. Starting in Acro will help students engage in core stability and will help if they decide to take on other forms of acrobatic styles such as Contortion.

Teen - Jazz Funk

Performance Team classes are designed for performance routines or competition purposes. They are not classes to teach technical steps of dance, but to put together routines using steps already known. All Performance Team participants must be taking a class in the corresponding subject to be considered for these performance opportunities.  We encourage all students to participate in the Performance Team, to gain stage experience, work in a team sport environment and most of all gain the confidence that comes from such an experience.

Hip Hop is similar to the dancing on the latest music videos; the classes are fun and set to the latest music trends. Hip Hop is great workout without realising you are exercising and is a perfect place to start if you have never danced before. A usual class begins with a funky warm up, light stretching, finishing with a routine.

Under the Directorship of Tania Sibon-Bourke and the highly talented teaching faculty, Ambiance Dance is creating the “triple threat dancer” that can dance, sing and act. Since the commencement of Ambiance Dance in 2005, our vision has always been to create a family rather than just a dance school. A place where students feel nurtured and supported along their dance journey will allow them to dream big and achieve more than they ever believed they could.

Annika Torretti started dancing at the age of 3, beginning with jazz, tap and musical theatre. It was at the age of 5 that Annika joined Ambiance Dance and began her training with Tania Sibon. Over the next 10 years Annika participated in many competitions in many different styles, including jazz, tap, classical and many more. Annika has completed many exams in numerous genres’ under CSTD, ATOD, RAD and the Cecchetti method, receiving high end results from all. Annika has performed at the CSTD Convention several times and interstate in the Sydney Festival.

Dance has been a major part of my life for 12 years.
My teachers inspire and nurture my technique and creativity.
The disciplines of dance have taught me life skills that have shaped me into the person I am today.
Teaching allows me to share my love of dance with younger students, helping them master new steps, grow in confidence and discover their own joy of dance

Leah began dancing at 3 years of age at Jody Marshall Dance Company, where she learnt many styles including jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, commercial jazz and hip hop. During her time at JMDC, she completed her CSTD theatrical exams and competed in many local competitions where she qualified for the Norma Atkinson Championship.

Leah also attended Stage Door Theatre where she developed a passion for acting; which led her to complete a Bachelor of Arts at WAAPA and ECU, in Contemporary Performance and Theatre Studies. Throughout this time, Leah gained an interest in Physical Theatre and Dance Theatre; becoming the leading choreographer and movement director for nearly all of her WAAPA performances. She was also lucky enough to combine her passion for acting and dance by featuring in a few

Shannon began dancing in 1995 at the age of two at the Jody Marshall Dance Company. She began in jazz classes and moved on to tap and ballet at the age of three and four respectively and it was from there that her love for dance grew.

Shannon has competed in many CSTD competitions and completed examinations in Theatrical, Tapping and Ballet. During high school, Shannon was a big part of the Arts department.
